What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is paying attention to the present moment in a non-judgmental way. From this awareness comes the ability for effective action โ€” shifting from behaviors that don't work to ones that do. This is called psychological flexibility.

One of our favorite ideas: "Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional." We all experience pain. We increase our suffering by avoiding it. Mindfulness helps us experience discomfort with greater poignancy but less suffering.
